Yorkshire Dales Landscape Workshop
22nd to 29th June 2024 (Sold Out)
During this workshop we will photograph some of the most varied and picturesque landscape scenery in England. At this time of the year the foliage will be fresh and green, providing a nice contrast within the landscape. The buttercups should also be in bloom in the valleys, which adds a real splash of colour. Hopefully we will also get changeable weather with impressive clouds and dramatic light. There should be a reasonable chance of the odd atmospheric misty morning. Each day we will start before sunrise and finish photographing after sunset, so expect to be out and about from 4.00am or earlier! We will return to base to rest and review images in the middle of the day, avoiding the harshest light.
We will be photographing mountain and moorland, rivers and waterfalls, limestone pavement, villages, stone bridges, patterns in the landscape, trees, woodland and much more during this workshop! I will demonstrate techniques such as hyperfocal focussing, using long exposures, controlling exposure and how to find compositions within the landscape. There will also be the opportunity to photograph red grouse at close range, along with various wildflowers. Our priority, however, will always be landscapes. There will be time for image critique and image processing sessions during our midday break or during any periods of particularly bad weather.
We will travel extensively across The Dales and, depending upon the weather, possibly beyond. The sheer variety of landscapes within the Yorkshire Dales National Park makes this one of my favourite workshop locations!
