Lighthouses & Castles of Scotland

During this nine-day trip we will photograph some of the most spectacular lighthouses and castles in the British Isles. We will begin on the beautiful Rhins of Galloway peninsula in south west Scotland before making our way up through the Great Glen and north all the way to John O’Groats. From here we retrace our steps a little whilst exploring the east coast of Scotland down to Dundee, ending the tour at Stirling Castle. This will be a road trip where we stay in six different locations, so a fair amount of travelling is to be expected. We will visit a couple of iconic locations along the way, but mostly we’ll concentrate on the less well-known, but equally photogenic lighthouses, castles and landscapes.

We will be visiting twelve main lighthouse or castle locations during the tour. However, this being Scotland, I certainly expect to be stopping many times to photograph other beautiful landscape scenes along the way, both along the coast and inland. As we will be covering such a large area I will have to stick to my planned itinerary more than normal. However, there will still be some flexibility for us to react to weather conditions and make sure we’re in the right place at the right time.

Participants will travel in my large winter-equipped four-wheel drive vehicle. Where practical I’m happy to collect people en-route up to Scotland from Dorset at no extra charge.
