Greece Landscapes & Macro

7th to 14th April 2023 (Sold Out)

During this workshop we will be exploring the Northern part of Greece. Our aim will be to capture a wide variety of interesting landscapes as well as a few reptiles, insects and wildflowers. This part of Greece has extremely varied landscape scenery with high mountains (hopefully snow-capped!) and deep valleys (hopefully filled with mist!). There are also many beautiful rivers and ancient stone bridges. One of the many highlights will be the famous cliff-top monasteries of Meteora.

We will endeavour to make use of the best light of the day around dawn and dusk, so be prepared for long days out in the field with early starts and late finishes! Whenever possible we will try to make time for rest during the harsh midday light. The workshop will begin and end at Thessaloniki airport. We will have at least seven days of photography, but I can assure you that it will seem much longer!

This workshop is suitable for both novice and experienced photographers. We will be walking over rough rocky ground at times, but for no more than a mile in each direction (usually much less), meaning this is not one of my more physically demanding workshops!

Landscape photography will be the priority during this workshop. However, when the light is not great will will also photograph some macro subjects such as insects, reptiles and wildflowers, where it will take time to find good specimens. As many species of insect and reptile are highly mobile it will not always be possible to take turns to photograph them. Therefore it will be important for you to try to find subjects for yourself at times. I will always be around to offer technical and compositional advice and help with identification. Along with our local guide, I will also be searching for subjects for you to photograph.
