Costa Rica

Join me to photograph the wildlife and wild places of this amazing country in Central America. We will be touring the region just north of the capital San Jose to concentrate on the rainforest and cloud forest environments that give Costa Rica such a rich biodiversity. Even after sixteen photos tours around Costa Rica it is still my favourite photographic destination....by far!

We will photograph a whole variety of spectacular subjects including; toucans, hummingbirds, frogs, snakes, insects and landscapes. We will spend two days using (supplied) multi-flash set-ups to photograph several species of hummingbirds at three different locations. We'll have access to a location where it's possible to photograph stunning and endangered scarlet and great-green macaws in the wild. We will spend some time photographing captive native reptiles and amphibians in natural set-ups. In the early morning and evenings we'll have the chance to explore some of the rainforest trails on foot to search for frogs, flowers, fungi, insects and landscapes. During the tour we will stay at five different lodges, all at different elevations to provide a variety of different species to photograph. This will be a fantastic opportunity to photograph a diverse range of rainforest and cloud forest wildlife and you can expect to shoot between 10,000 and 20,000 images over the 12 days!

I will be your photographic tutor during this trip and we will have the services of local photographer Paulo Valerio, who will be our guide. Paulo is a talented photographer who has an excellent knowledge of Costa Rica’s wildlife. We also have Enrique as the driver of our large tour bus.

This trip is limited to only six participants so, with only five fellow photographers, you will all be assured a chance to make the most of each location. I will offer advice on an individual basis as required by each participant. Please bear in mind that this will be quite an intensive photography workshop where we will try to fit in as much as possible!
