Cornwall Landscape Workshop
18th to 22nd May 2026 (One Place Remaining)
9th to 13th May 2027 - Available
My Cornwall workshops now take place in mid-May when the clifftops will be adorned with colourful coastal wildflowers. Over the course of the workshop we will explore various locations on both the north and south coast of the peninsula all the way down to Land's End. Expect to photograph lighthouses, sandy beaches, rocky coves, fishing villages, ancient monuments and coastal close-ups. During any spells of bad weather we will photograph woodlands and waterfalls and may also try some "painting with torchlight" techniques after dark. There may also be the possibility for some astro-landscape photography along the coastline, if conditions allow. The exact locations chosen will depend upon the weather conditions at the time.
The length of this workshop has been extended to four full days with around 40 hours spent in the field. We will always try to make best use of the nice light around sunrise and sunset, so be prepared for long days. We normally have a break back at the hotel in the middle of the day when the light is harsh. This provides time to review images and run through a few Photoshop techniques. I will demonstrate some of the techniques that I use in my own landscape photography; such as hyperfocal focussing and focus-bracketing for front to back sharpness and exposure bracketing and blending to control contrast in sunrise and sunset shots. Although this is one of my shorter workshops, it always seem much longer due to the wide variety of subjects we cover!
It's a long way down to Cornwall! Therefore this workshop is set to begin and end in Dorchester, where I can collect you from the train station on day one (direct line from Waterloo and Dorchester with Premier Inn right next to the station) and return you there on the final day.
