These one-day workshops offer an intensive day photographing various wildflower species in fantastic locations in Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset. There may also be other photographic opportunities throughout the day, such as landscapes and butterflies. The workshops will start and end in Dorchester and are timed to coincide with some of the best wildflower opportunities of the year. We will shoot magnificent bluebell woods, carpets of white ramsons, thrift, orchids, cowslips and many other colourful and interesting plant species.
The day will begin at 8am and finish at dusk. We will aim to make use of low angled sunlight and the still conditions which often occur late in the day. I will explain the techniques that I use for my own wildflower photography such as; low shooting angles, use of lighting effects, use of telephoto lenses and use of reflectors. We will spend as much time as possible photographing wildflowers in the field, but in the event of very poor weather I will review your images and offer advice on how to improve your success rate. I will have a laptop with me to explain some Photoshop tips if time permits. We will stop for breakfast and lunch but the cost of meals is not included.
Each workshop is limited to a maximum of 3 participants to ensure that everyone receives sufficient help from me and can shoot without other photographers being in the way! It is also important to work in small groups in order to cause as little damage as possible to the delicate wildflower habitats that we will be visiting. Everyone will travel in my vehicle from our meeting and finishing point in Dorchester.
The cost of these workshops is £150.
