During this very popular workshop we will be based on the north east coast of England surrounded by some of the country's most imposing castles including Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Warkworth Castle. Most photography will be carried out along Northumberland's impressive coastline. We will explore Lindisfarne and photograph an extraordinary stone circle by torchlight. If time permits we will venture into Newcastle and Gateshead for dusk shots of the riverside and Millenium Bridge. We will also photograph St. Mary's Lighthouse and The Angel of the North. If there's time we will also head inland to Hadrian's Wall. There will be eider ducks in the harbour close to the hotel which we can photograph with a moderate telephoto lens. Each day we will start before sunrise and finish photographing after sunset so expect to be out and about from about 6.00am until 7.00pm. At this time of the year we should have empty beaches and hopefully changeable weather with impressive clouds and dramatic light. Image critique sessions will be carried out at the end of each day. Photoshop techniques will be discussed and demonstrated in the evenings or during any periods of very poor weather.
This trip is limited to only three participants. Although this increases the cost of the trip for each person I feel there is no other way to run a successful landscape photography workshop. You will be free to explore each location as much as you wish but there is often only one ideal shooting position. Therefore, with only three participants, you will all be assured a chance to make the most of each location. I will also be able to offer advice on a more individual basis as required by each participant. Please bear in mind that this will be an intensive photography workshop where we will try to fit in as much as possible. We may also have to spend time waiting for good light.
The cost of this workshop is £850, which includes all tuition, guidance and transport costs once at the location. Four nights accommodation in single en-suite rooms (including breakfast) is also included. The cost of meals and drinks is not included. We will have four and a half days of photography beginning on arrival on Monday afternoon and finishing after sunset on Friday evening. Participants will travel in my vehicle once at the location. If you require accommodation for Sunday or Friday night please let me know when booking. Where practical I will collect participants en-route from my base in Dorset.
