Join me for a landscape photography workshop in my home county! This is an area that I know extremely well, so I will be able to take you to some of my favourite locations for landscape and coastal photography. I will also be able to choose locations suitable for whatever weather conditions occur.
During the workshop we will visit many locations along Dorset’s picturesque Jurassic Coastline including; Durdle Door, Kimmeridge Bay, Old Harry Rocks, The Isle of Portland, Lyme Regis, Golden Cap and Dancing Ledge. We will also travel inland to The Marshwood Vale, Shaftesbury, The Cranborne Chase and Corfe Castle. By the end of the week you will have built up a varied collection of Dorset landscape photographs, hopefully including misty landscapes and dramatic coastal scenes.
We will be staying in Dorchester, which is an excellent base from which to explore the whole county. The workshop is limited to only three participants so that each photographer has a chance to shoot from the ideal spot. This is particularly important when working in coastal locations where there is often only one ideal shooting position. This inevitably increases the cost for each person. However, I feel that there is no other way to run a successful landscape photography workshop in the locations that we will be visiting. You will all be assured a chance to make the most of each location. I will also be able to offer advice on a more individual basis as required by each participant. The workshop runs midweek when there will be fewer people around to get in our photographs! Each day we will start before sunrise and finish photographing after sunset so expect to be out and about from about 6.00am until 6.00pm. It is only during the winter months that the sun rises and sets out to sea, casting golden light along the Dorset coastline. At this time of the year there is always the possibility of encountering a winter storm, which can lead to some very dramatic images of waves and shafts of sunlight. In recent years December has also brought some lovely clear sunny days with excellent visibility. There is also the chance of snow! Image critique sessions will be carried out if requested and Photoshop techniques will be discussed and demonstrated during inclement weather.
The cost of this workshop is £750, which includes all tuition, guidance and transport costs once at the location. Four nights accommodation (single occupancy of a double en-suite room) is also included. I do not include the cost of meals as I prefer mealtimes to remain as flexible as possible. We will have five full days of photography. Participants will travel in my vehicle once at the location.
Please bear in mind that this will be an intensive photography workshop where we will try to fit in as much as possible. We may also have to spend time waiting for good light at each location.Whatever the weather there are always plenty of subjects to find in Dorset….that is why I live here!
LIMITED TO 3 PARTICIPANTS
