Biography
I have been a professional nature and landscape photographer for ten years. My career began soon after graduating from a degree in photography, following various courses in nature conservation. Now I concentrate on stock photography, with The Image Bank (Getty Images) acting as my main international agent. The Natural History Photographic Agency (NHPA) and Woodfall Wild Images market much of my nature and landscape work from the UK. I also run my own library of over 100,000 35mm, medium format and digital images.
My work has been published widely at home and abroad with clients that include: Outdoor Photography, Practical Photography, Digital Camera, Country Walking, Dorset, Dorset Life, and Devon Life magazines, Telegraph magazine, The Reader's Digest, David and Charles, CPRE, John Hinde, J. Salmon, Brown trout Publishers, Exeter City Council, Canon, Photography Monthly, Archant Life and Ordnance Survey.
In 2000 I was highly commended in the Wild Places category of the BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. Although my main interest is photographing the wildlife and wild places of the British Isles, I also make several foreign trips each year. Wherever I am working I try to capture subjects in new ways, often working on new techniques in order to produce a unique image. Living on the border of Dorset and Devon in Southwest England I have a variety of beautiful landscapes and interesting habitats to work in. Many of my most successful images have been taken within a few miles of my home.
"Symphony of Light" 2007 Canon Calendar
I was privileged to be awarded the contract for Canon's 2007 corporate calendar entitled "Symphony of Light" featuring 12 of my previously unpublished UK landscape images. Although the calendar will not be available to purchase in any shops 125,000 copies in four languages will be distributed worldwide to the electronics company's retailers and customers. The selection process took place in Japan and my images were chosen from submissions by a number of invited professional photographers specialising in various subjects.
